wishing wednesday #2

This Wednesday, I'm wishing for these boots from Madewell to magically appear in my closet.
I love these boots!
They are clean and simple for biker boots, which is just what I've been looking for.
I would also like to add that the fox in the Looks We Love section is just too cute!
Now, while I'm wishing for things, I'd like to put out into the universe that Madewell should totally have a store here in Portland.

ps Wishing for a Madewell store reminds me of this--
S:What if what I'm wishing for is actually coming true?
L: Quick, wish for a Sephora within walking distance!
If you can guess what show it's from, we should probably be best friends.

it's not a party without a bunny

my friend's bunny, named Pancho Villa.

I was a hippie for some Halloween parties this past weekend. I know, super creative.
At least I got to wear my new favorite sweater and stayed warm.
Overall, it ended up being a fun and interesting night.

ps Sorry for the bad quality photo, but we'll just call it vintage looking.

friday's fancies #34

This may be my 34th friday's fancies but, over on long distance loving, {av} is celebrating her 100th!

party time!

What does any party outfit need??
A good dose of sparkle! I mean it's just not a party without glitter polish, amiright!
And can we just talk for a sec about that suede biker jacket in bordeaux, it's A-mazing.
Unfortunately, the jacket in bordeaux is all sold out but they do have it in other colors.

Congrats on the 100th edition, {av}!

wishing wednesday

I thought I'd start something new, so here is Wishing Wednesday's.
This week I'm wishing I could visit this place...

This is Kochia Hill in Hitachi Seaside Park, located in Hitachinaka City, Japan.
It's pretty spectacular, don't you think?? It also seems to resemble Dr. Seuss' world in The Lorax
This plant called kochia, also known as summer cypress, looks like it's fluffy but is said to be quite prickly instead. This park is open all year, but to see it like this you would need to visit in early-mid October. So if you just so happen to be in Japan, go visit!

clean up

If you follow me on Pinterest, then you can probably tell that I love it. I'm a pinning machine, people!
(ok, maybe not.)
The one thing I don't like is when I find something I love and want to find out more from the original source, but the pin isn't from the source or the specific post on a blog/website.  I know we have probably all experienced this and is certainly becoming an issue on, otherwise, an amazing website. Over on long distance loving, AV brought up this topic and provided a resource to help.
This bookmarklet can be put in your bookmarks bar, just like Pinterest, and searches the web for that particular image. I've used it a couple of times and it has really helped.

It will take me a long while to go through all of my pins (over 3,000 now, yikes!) and clean up, but I'm up for it! How about you?

I have finally updated my about and contact pages in my sidebar <--.
Also, my mom started a facebook page for her Stella & Dot business.
Go and check 'em out!

friday's fancies #33

This week is about preparing for Halloween. I might have mentioned it before, but I'm not a big fan of this holiday. I don't know if it's because i had bronchitis almost every year on Halloween as a child or what, but I'm not one to make a fuss over finding a costume. I kind of dread figuring out what to wear for it actually. Anyway, I thought since it was the theme for this week, I would try to think of something kind of cool.
costume prep 2012

Honestly, I think it would be pretty fun to dress as Kate Middleton for Halloween (and if your boyfriend/husband wants to dress up as Prince William that would be awesome). This is probably the easiest costume to get and it can be worn even when it's not Halloween, so it's a win-win in my book.

If you are needing a laugh, you should watch this.

Happy Friday!

new arrivals

It's been awhile since I've dedicated a post to my mom's Stella & Dot shop, so here it is!
The new arrivals for this season are probably my favorite collection so far. Plus, they have scarves!
Here are a few of my favorites that are on my want list, and some would be great for gifts.
Delight Candle--notes include fig, peach nectar, and white tea leaves. Yum.
Signature Iphone Case--Green. For all who want to put a bird on it!
Suzanne Cocktail Ring. A ring I could definitely see myself wearing.
Bryant Park Scarf--Tan. Loving this leopard print!
Serenity Small Stone Drops--Raspberry. Such a pretty color! (and available in 3 other colors)
Signature Iphone Case--Poppy. Love the colors and print.
Liz Drop Earrings. Even the back of these are gorgeous.

For the month of October, the net proceeds of these items go to fight for a cure.
Check out these items and much more here!

blue skies

The one really amazing thing about being on a plane, is the pictures you can get of the sky.
Yes, I'm pretty sure I confused a lot of people on the plane--but how can you not be inspired!
Happy Monday!

friday's fancies #32

I'm back!
Yesterday was such a long day. I woke at 6:30 am central time and then didn't get to my apartment until 11 pm pacific time! Seriously. So. Long. Plus, with a full day of flying and spending 6 hours in the Houston airport, I'm feeling under the weather today. It's chilly and rainy here in Portland, which is the perfect weather to stay in and under the covers.

leaf love

I love the color changes of leaves in the fall! It's pretty spectacular. Mustard yellow and rusty reds, certainly scream fall to me. That Butter London polish in Shag is perfect and is actually described as, "an orange-burgundy metallic lacquer that looks like fallen Autumn leaves." I don't know what it is about fall, but I always love watches during this season. This mini tortoise shell one from Fossil is super cute. Also, I heart biker boots this season. This pair from Madewell are amazing, simple and modern. Now, if only they were on super sale!

Hope you guys have a great weekend!

year two

Source: thechrisellefactor.com // Jana Williams photography

Today, my blog turns 2!
It sure is crazy how fast time flies.

On to some other news, I quit my receptionist job. Yesterday was my last day.
It hasn't been much of a secret (or maybe it has) how unhappy it was making me, and it was finally time to move on. Even though this job didn't work out the way I would have liked, I'm looking forward to what's in store for me. Hopefully there's a full time job in my not-so-distant future and I'm also considering starting a certificate program in communication design.

I have some more news!
Tomorrow, I am flying to Texas to visit my parents and friends! I haven't been back to my hometown since I moved to Oregon (which has now been a little over a year) and I'm super excited. This is a much needed vacation. Since it is a vacation for me, I'm going to take a little blog break (I'll be back to posting on the 12th). I want to use the time I have at home to my advantage, and disconnect a little from my computer. Sometimes I feel there should be someone around who tells me to step. away. from. the. computer. -- and this is my chance.

Thanks to all of you for following along on my blog journey!
Hope you stick around for year 3!
