friday's fancies #22

This week's theme over on long distance loving is Favorite Summer Treat!
I actually had a hard time thinking about my favorite summer treat. Honestly, this is the first time I've ever lived somewhere with real seasons (although I think this year Oregon is just skipping summer, don't believe me check our weather forecast for the next 10 days). And then there's just so many choices, how do you narrow it down I ask you! But then, I finally realized what would seem so very refreshing right now and strawberry lemonade came to mind. It's sweet, tart, and a cheerful color to boot!

I found the picture on a blog with a recipe for strawberry vanilla lemonade! Doesn't it sound so good!?
Find the recipe to make it here

What's your fave summer treat??

channeling buffy

Buffy the Vampire Slayer that is.
So just in case you run into sparkly or normal vampires, you'll have a stake nearby.

This seriously made my day.

a list

Hi guys! Hope all of you had a wonderful weekend! My weekend just started. That's right folks, while most people are just starting their work week, mine is finally ending. I look forward to 6 pm on Monday like it's my life line (it might actually be the only way I get through my work week, no joke.)
Anyway, here's a list of things that have been on my mind this week.

1. Greece. I miss it lots. I found a book that is actually set in Thessaloniki, Greece (where I studied abroad) called The Thread, which I'm pretty excited to read.

2. The Newsroom. I love it. If you haven't watched it, please do!

3. Polka dots & J. Crew. 'Nough said.
(I have a feeling that might be the name of a blog.)

4. Goodreads. I have 119 books to read and counting.
This might be considered a little obsessive, but a good obsession...right??
If you have an account you should totally be my goodreads friend!

5. Gilmore Girls. It's still one of my most favorite shows and I am watching all the seasons. Again.
Someone even told me that I remind them of someone who lived in Stars Hollow. I don't know if I should take that as a compliment or not. Given that if Stars Hollow actually existed that I would love to live there, I will take it as a compliment.

friday's fancies #21

This week's theme over on long distance loving is Euro Trip!
And now, I sincerely wish I was roaming around Europe again.
Anyone want to buy me a plane ticket??
(just kidding...kind of)
euro trip

The two must haves for me are a crossbody bag and comfy shoes. I took a pair of Sperry's boat shoes on my trip and they worked out great! Those shoes worked for when I went sailing, the wet winter weather in Southern Europe, and walking around everywhere. Comfy but cute shoes are a serious must!
What are your must haves while traveling?

Want to take a look at my euro trips?? Check 'em out here!

It's barely been summer here in Portland, but Madewell already has me looking forward to fall.

If you didn't already know, I'm a sucker for cardigans. They are my favorite and it's even nicer that I don't almost die of a heat stroke when wearing one, unlike in Texas. I would wear a similar outfit like this everyday, if I could. Are you guys looking forward to fall fashion??

ps Sorry for the lack of posts lately, it's been harder to get back into my regular schedule than I thought it would be. Hope all of you are having a fantastic summer!

little things

My parents flew back home yesterday, and now I'm playing catch up.
So here are some pictures of the past few weeks.

My grandmother's birthday party.

The 4th of July. It included a very American lunch (bacon cheeseburger and a marionberry milkshake) and a picnic for dinner.

A visit to the Portland Chinese Garden.
Flowers and berries from the farmer's market.

A bouquet of fresh lavender from a lavender farm.

I hope all of you are having a fantastic summer so far!

friday's fancies #20

This week's theme is Wedding Guest.
Now all I need to do is get myself invited to a wedding!

It seems, that the color lavender and I are still having a moment. The color makes this already pretty dress look fresh. As much as I've been loving this color, I still don't think I have any lavender items in my closet.
Sad day I tell ya, sad day.

Do you have any weddings to attend soon??

Today, I finished reading the Steve Jobs biography and I highly recommend it. I'm certainly a fan of my mac, that at 5 years old will probably be going to computer heaven sooner than I would like.
(I see that new retina screen macbook pro in my future!)
Even if you are all for PC's, his story is interesting and you'll learn lots of info on Apple, Pixar, and a little of the relationship with Microsoft. It's a fascinating book.

Remember these ads??

Have any of you had a chance to read his biography??

"Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. While some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do."
