happy halloween

It seems, on Saturday, that Oregon was prepared for Halloween. I woke up to this and it stayed this way until the afternoon. Pretty creepy if you ask me.

What did everyone dress up as for Halloween?? I was really lame and didn't do anything. I have to say though, I'm not a big fan of the holiday. I'd rather skip it and get to Thanksgiving.

Today was my first real day on the job and it wasn't half as bad as I thought it would be. Can I just say that waking up at 4 am might actually kill me, not to mention it's super cold at that time.
Hope all of you have a great week!

the longest two weeks

Source: Uploaded by user via Danica on Pinterest

It's the weekend!!! Can you tell I'm excited about this?? I'm done with the training and I did well on my final test, so I get to keep my job! Whoooooo. It seriously feels like it has been so much longer than just two weeks. I'm kind of nervous about answering phone calls solo on Monday, but I really don't have much choice in the matter and practice makes perfect, right? Sorry that I haven't posted very much, but next week I should have much more stuff to post for you guys. Plus, I'll be getting out super early from work since I start at 6:30 am (which is not fun but oh well), so there is plenty of time to take outfit shots and stuff.

Have a great weekend everyone!

quit waiting

Well I'm very glad that it's Wednesday. I ended up doing well on my quiz today, but now I just have to get through the big and final test tomorrow. So you better believe that I will be even happier when I can be done tomorrow and, hopefully, know I did well on it. Crossing my fingers that everything goes okay.

Hope all of you are having a great week!

travel tuesday: rome, italy

Rome was the first city I visited on my fall break and it was definitely a whirlwind. We walked all over the city and was able to go to the Vatican, Colloseum, Trevi Fountain, and so much more. It was a great start to an amazing trip!
Rome was a lovely city and I would love to go and visit again! I also wouldn't mind going to have lots of great pasta, pizza, and gelato. haha.

ps The best gelato I had was on a side street close to the Trevi Fountain.
It's the delicious stuff in the picture. :)

pps This is my last travel tuesday of my trip to Europe, at least until I go again.

my apartment

Moving in to an unfurnished apartment is pretty intense, especially when you have no furniture. I moved most of my clothes, some stuff for my kitchen, and tv yesterday. I'm pretty proud of the fact that I moved every box to my second floor apartment by myself. Let me tell you, my arms are sore today!
So here's a small peek into my apartment!

My apartment is technically a studio, but it actually has a wall in between the living room and bedroom just without a door. I have a washer/dryer, walk-in closet, and a balcony. Pretty much awesome if you ask me. I'll show you more pictures, whenever I can actually afford to decorate it and get real furniture.

Sorry I haven't been updating that often this week, but you might expect the same for this coming week as well. Moving in and studying for my final test for my job has been pretty stressful and time consuming. Cross your fingers that I do really well on my test (it's suppose to be on Thursday)!

Hope all of you are having a fantastic weekend!

a day of laughter

Source: laurawinslowphotography.com via Danica on Pinterest

Today was definitely one of those days where everything is hilarious. You know, when you just get really tired and then almost anything becomes funny. Yeah, that was me today. I'm hoping I can get a really good night's sleep tonight. One where I actually sleep through the night, instead of waking up almost every hour paranoid that I might sleep through my alarm. Apparently, not having a job for months will do this to you. Perhaps it's just me.

travel tuesday: athens, greece

I had kind of forgotten that I had not posted about Athens. I really didn't take all that many pictures and it definitely wasn't a favorite of the cities I visited. However, it is still an important city with a rich history and culture.

The Acropolis was amazing. I still find it hard to believe that I actually got to go and see it in person. It's not something most people get to see, even when they do travel to Europe.

I think the main reason I didn't particularly care for it was because I was living in another big Greek city that I could compare it to. Thessaloniki, to me, was a much nicer city, especially to live in. It didn't have all the tourist traps that Athens obviously had (since they do have the Acropolis and all). Either way, though, don't miss visiting Athens! I just suggest that you spend a day or two there and then get yourself to one of the islands. :)

cinderella pumpkins

This weekend I went to a free photography class at the library and went to Hood River for the Harvest Festival and to a farm with fun pumpkin things going on. Did you know that there are a type of pumpkin called Cinderella pumpkins? I'm not sure why they call them that, but it was kind of cute. Oh and I also, finally, got my Birchbox
I love this area of Hood River. It is so pretty, with farms, wineries, and orchards all around.

So, today was my first day of training! I felt like I was going to my first day of school. It was definitely interesting and also tiring. Tomorrow I get to wake up even earlier. Yay...not. I'm really excited about working for this company though, it seems really amazing. (Oh, I'm a seasonal customer service rep just so you know.) I feel pretty legit now with my fancy badge and stuff.
Well I need to go study for my quizzes. I apparently have quizzes everyday and a final test that I need to pass with an 85 or higher to keep the job. Sounds just like school, doesn't it?

Hope you have a great week!

downton abbey

Have any of you watched this show?? If you haven't, I suggest you go watch it. right. now.
It's pretty amazing. It's instant streaming on Netflix and I'm pretty sure I watched all of the first season in a couple of days. Maggie Smith definitely has the best lines.

chevron and stripes

I'm starting to really love chevron and stripes. Not that I didn't before but now that I'm thinking of how I want to decorate my apartment, chevron and stripes are first on my list of things I would like.

I loved the colors used for this Julia Child quote. It's definitely not a new color palette to use, but as soon as I saw this I felt that they were the right colors. I might also add some pink or orange in there too.

I might show you before and after pictures of my apartment, if that sounds interesting to anyone. Although, the decorating of my apartment may be a work in progress for quite awhile.

ps: I just found out Priscilla Ahn is playing in Portland on Saturday night.
I haven't been to a show in ages and her's would probably be a good one.
Anyone in pdx thinking of going?

green stripes and a rainbow

Yesterday, I finally took my tripod and camera out for a spin in a more public venue. I don't know what that guy mowing the grass thought I was doing. I think a lady might have almost run me over with her stroller and child too. Who knew taking pictures for a blog could be so dangerous.
blazer: F21; sweater & jeans: Old Navy; shoes: Zara; purse: Dooney & Bourke
I was even pretty lucky and got a shot of a rainbow.
So I say, all in all, this little photo shoot turned out pretty well.

ps: Did you know that geese are ridiculously noisy?? It's true, they are.
