heat wave

5.26.2011

A heat wave is more of an understatement. I just checked the weather and it's 97°F, but feels like 104.
I really dislike hot weather, but it's like that all the time here.
(bonus: the air conditioner in my car isn't working).

Anyway, I have been wanting to know what lipstick they used for the
J.Crew Spring '11 Lookbook for quite awhile now and I found out!
via Harper's Bazaar
They used Nars lipstick in Heat Wave!
And if you have been wondering and searching for what
they used for the Fall catalog it is Funny Face.

I have also been eying some stuff on mark., such as...
mark. Lipclick SPF 15 Color Shine Lipstick
Specifically wanting Hot Stuff, which I'm hoping is a similar color to Nars Heat Wave.
Plus it has SPF 15!

mark. Itty Bitty Pretty Earrings
mark. Color Cluster Ring
mark. It's a Long Story Dress
I don't know if this dress would actually look good on me but it is cute.

something borrowed

5.23.2011

Just read Something Borrowed this past week. It was a good book, not an all time favorite but good nonetheless. It was of course a little different from the movie, but I think I actually liked the movie better. Shock. Yes. I usually always like the book better. (The only other movie that I think has come close to the book is The Notebook and well possibly Harry Potter, cause I'm a HP nerd. hehe.)
Now I'm going to start to read Something Blue, which I'm pretty excited about since I read the last page and it's kind of a shocker. Ooo intrigue, right??
Hope you all have a fabulous week!

travel tuesday: florence, italy

5.17.2011

In the span of about two weeks, I talked to a customer whose daughter was thinking of
studying abroad and that a coworker was going to be in Italy for the summer.
I have to admit that I'm a bit jealous just thinking of the amazing experience that they could or will have. It's a great feeling to be at the start of that great big adventure!

So...Florence.
It was possibly my favorite city that I was fortunate enough to visit.
There was just something about it that I just loved.

Plus some free limoncello ^. Can't beat that. haha.

I sincerely hope I have the opportunity to go back to Italy because it really is one of the most beautiful places to visit. The food isn't bad either.

stripes, stripes, and more stripes

5.16.2011

Lately I've been pinning a lot of looks with stripes (via Pinterest. yes it is addicting...you have been warned.) For some reason I think it gives a look something classic and effortless. Also, everyone seems to look great in a classic striped top.

(I think an obsession with stripes has definitely started.)

happy belated mother's day!

5.09.2011

Yesterday, my family celebrated Mother's Day by going to see a movie and then I made dinner.
We went to go see Something Borrowed. It was a good movie and
had some really funny parts, you should definitely go see it!
Anyway, I thought I'd share what I made for dinner and the recipes I used.

and a mexican brownie bottom cheesecake for dessert. (I didn't make it all by myself,
I asked my dad to help me with some of it). All of the food turned out really great!
The dessert for me was a little too much, delicious but way too rich after awhile.

I hope all of you had a great Mother's Day!

ps My dad and I got my mom TOMS wedges as a gift...

these to be exact. She loved them!

accident prone

5.05.2011

This week I have burned my hand with olive oil while cooking and then yesterday I hit my toe while vacuuming and it started bleeding quite a lot. Apparently, this is not my week. Only I would have all this happen to me in the span of a few days. I'm fine now, my hand is healing and
my toe is bruised but okay. And in the spirit of having really random accidents...

^this use to happen to me all the time!

On another note, I've been looking at all the pretty outfits from the Met Ball.
There were some really amazing ones.

    travel tuesday: london, england

    5.03.2011

I had always wanted to go to England, London specifically, and when I was deciding where I would study abroad I was dead set on London. I had planned to go for the summer
but decided I wanted to stay for a longer period of time, so I switched to a semester.
That didn't work out because the program I picked was just way too expensive for an entire semester,
so I had to find somewhere else or not go abroad at all.
Although, I didn't get to study and live in London, I was able to visit for a weekend.
I loved it just as much as I thought I would.

I loved London and I really want to go back
because I didn't get to see even half of all the things I wanted to.

ps I did get to see an alpaca walking around the streets of Camden Town (with its owner?).
    That was very random.

    wedded bliss

    5.02.2011

By now, probably everyone in the world has seen the Royal Wedding.
I thought it was beautiful. Kate's dress was really pretty and so was Pippa's.
So taking inspiration from all the wedding talk,
here are some pictures of a lovely one inspired by Water for Elephants.
